The Perfect Home Gym Workout and the Perfect Home Gym

This is a question that is asked all the time all over the net. We get asked this same question daily here at Fitnessbargains, so we want to address it for you here today. Recently, we’ve read a couple of articles, and have seen couple of question asked online, were people talk about, certain pieces of equipment that they recommend for a home gym. We wanted to give you our take on it, and discuss issues with some of these recommendations that others have been making about home gyms.

Why work out at home? This is a subject that I think most of us are familiar with. Number one, it saves time. There is no need to travel all the way to the gym. You can avoid traffic jams, red lights, strange locker rooms and having to wait in line for equipment. While some of us are motivated to visit a gym for a short period of time, it gets old very quickly.

The number one reasons why most people look at working out at home is to save time. It is also a huge money saver. Purchasing the Vigorfit®® Gym is an incredible bargain as compared to paying monthly membership dues which many of you will not use to its full extent.

In addition, all of us have very busy lives. We are busy, with work, family, children and many other commitments. Having a gym in your own home enables you to sneak in a workout session whenever time allows. Some days, you may want to workout in the morning, while at others you may want to workout at night. Some days you may sneak in a small workout between projects. Whatever you decide, having a gym in your own home allows you to get your workout in daily.

So with that out of the way, I would like to address the few recommendations that we have seen thrown around the web.

First people talk about the dreaded pull up. Many recommend that you get a pull up bar because it is inexpensive, and it works but is it right for you?

 

Pull-ups

Well first my comments on the exercise pull-ups. Pull-ups are an excellent upper body exercise. They work the entire upper body. While it is an excellent exercise, the problem is, it is just too difficult for most people to get a good workout out. Even if you are in good enough shape to do a couple of pull-ups, it is simply not enough reps to be able to give your body the appropriate changes that you desire.

Because of this, most people get frustrated, embarrassed, and stop doing pull ups. The Vigorfit® allows you to do assisted lifts on an incline. In essence, you are able to do pull-ups with the assistance of the incline, and then build up gradually to where you are eventually doing pull ups with more than your body weight. You can start off at a beginners level and work up slowly to a level that will allow you to go beyond what you could even do with a traditional pull-up.

Dumbbells

The next piece of equipment that we see recommended is dumbbells. Do dumbbells work? Well of course dumbbells work. They are a staple of many gyms, but here are a couple of problems that we see with dumbbells.

  1. Most of the time, you outgrow them. You either have to buy new, heavier dumbbells or additional weights for your current dumbbells.
  1. It can be difficult to stabilize them. This means, if you are working at home you are in danger of pulling muscles or worse, hurting yourself badly. In addition, dumbbells limit the variety and type of exercises that you can do.

The problem is, in our opinion for most users, the Swiss ball doesn’t provide you with the support you need, to have an effective and safe workout. If you workout using too much resistance, you risk twisting, falling or hurting yourself when you are using a Swiss Ball.
